Event Description

Would you like to be more involved? Here's your chance to join the habitat crew and do some hands on conservation work!

The West Virginia Deer Association is hosting a habitat day in conjunction with the West Virginia Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers at Snake Hill WMA on June 29th from 8am-2pm.  We will be breaking up into crews to replace trees, replace signage and do exclosure maintenance at the orchard as well as assist the WVDNR in un-marking illegal trails, timber stand management, raking and clearing firebreaks for future prescribed burning, and herbicide work.

We'll have kid safe activities as well.  Please RSVP by June 24th so we can get a head count of volunteers to better plan accommodations and what we can accomplish. Please bring long sleeve shirts, pants, boots, hat, gloves, and eye protection. Water and snacks will be provided, but it's always a good idea to bring additional to stay hydrated.

This is a great opportunity to meet some wonderful folks while performing awesome work on your public lands! We can't wait to see you there!
